Lakefield Fitzsimmon Chiefs - A Season to Remember

The Lakefield Fitzsimmons Chiefs'  2013-2014 regular season has been one that may not be repeated in a long time. Their first place finish is 18 points ahead of second place finishers Clarington Eagles. You have to go back to the 1999-2000 campaign to find a better record. That season, the Chiefs finished 38-1-1 during the regular season and they went on to win the Schmalz Cup emblematic of the OHA All Ontario Junior C Champion.

Derek Manley won the scoring title with 69 points in 39 games (34goals, 35 assists) an 8 point cushion over second place finisher and Chiefs' teammate Captain Nathan Larson. The Chiefs had eight players finish in the top eleven in scoring. The team scored 217 goals in 40 games for an average of 5.42 goals per game andscored 66 more goals than their closest rival. Eric Shewell was the club and league highest scoring defenseman. Eric had 42 points in 40 games (9 goals, 33 assists),  16 points more than Carter Vahey of Uxbridge.
